Performing Arts Camp Frequently Asked Questions
FOR PARTICIPANTS (STUDENTS):
To keep the early registration rate of $145, do I have to pay the balance by the cut
off date?
NOPE! Your $35 non-refundable deposit locks in the discount price for camp. However,
the balance will need to be paid by the first day of camp.
Do I have to memorize anything?
Yes, especially in the Choir and Drama tracks. Songs and all dialogue have to be
memorized, which is why we send you a listening CD before camp. Also, you will learn
a lot during the week no matter which track you choose and we hope that you take most
of it home with you after camp!
What's in it for me?
TONS! And the best part is YOU get to choose what’s in it for you . . . do you want to
learn voice control, acting techniques, different art styles, and so forth? After you choose
WHAT you want to learn, you also decide how much you get out of it by how deeply you
participate in the class. You may make a life long friend and/or have a life changing
experience. And don’t forget the excitement and applause of the performance!
When do I have to be there?
You want to get the most out of camp so you really want to attend every day of camp and
you want to be there on time! Both camps start at 9:00AM SHARP! So get here no later
then 8:55am. We do have morning extended care hours if you need to be there earlier.
If I can't make it to the rehearsals but am available for the performance can I still
play a lead role?
Nope, sorry! Keep in mind we have only 5 days to put the musical together. It is not in
the best interest of the entire cast ~ or to YOU ~ if we work around anyone who is not
there the whole time. The musical is a group effort and we need the entire group in
attendance in order to present ourselves with excellence.
What do I need to bring on the first day?
You will/should receive a registration pack after registration. In it you will find the items
that you need everyday for camp, i.e. script/music book, cord charts, etc. You should
bring those things to camp every day.
What if I don’t like the track I chose?
Because class sizes are limited, it may be impossible to switch to a different class.
However, if there is room a student may request a change by lunch time on the first day.
Do I have to sing?
Choir and Drama track students will be singing. It is optional for Art and Dance and even
Band during the songs they are not playing. In our 6th-9th grade camp, it is also optional
for the Hospitality track. The AV (Audio/Visual) track will not be singing!
FOR PARENTS:
To keep the early registration rate of $145, do I have to pay the balance by the cut
off date?
NOPE! Your $35 non-refundable deposit locks in the discount price for camp. However,
the balance will need to be paid by the first day of camp.
What if my child originally wanted to do acting and that was the 1st choice, but now
my child wants to do something else like art, can they change groups or is there
limited slots?
Because class sizes are limited, it may be impossible to switch to a different class.
However, if there is room a student may request a change by lunch time on the first day.
My kids have food allergies and/or have a special diet. What do you recommend?
We recommend that the student brings his/her own lunch from home. We can refrigerate
it and if needed, warm it by microwave.
What if my child wants to sing AND dance? Or sing and act…etc.???
We are going to give the Art, Dance and even Band (as well as 6th-9th grade
Hospitality) track students the option to sing with the choir at the end of the day in the
daily All-Camp rehearsal and the performance. The Drama students will already be on
stage and may sing.
I have 2 kids in different grades…can they be in the same class?
Track classes will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis and not by grade or age. If
your kids like the same class and as long as there is room in that class, they can be
together.
Do you offer scholarships?
Partial scholarships may be available. Please contact the camp director.
Do you offer sibling discounts?
Please contact the camp director, Sandy Ormeo at sandyormeo@gmail.com
What does my child need to bring on the first day?
Your child will/should receive a registration pack after registration. In it you will find the
items that your student needs everyday for camp, ie script/music book, cord charts, etc.
Your student should bring those things to camp every day.
What if my child cannot be there one day?
We encourage all students not to miss any time at camp. We are working toward a
performance and have very limited time. Usually the absence of a student not only affects
that student but also the other students in the class. Please see the camp director about
individual cases.
At what skill level are the track classes?
We strive to create an atmosphere of excellence without leaving the student with no
experience behind. We do this by first limiting the class size, and then by providing a
range of individual options for the student in each track class. Our instructors understand
that some of their students will be proficient while others have no experience and plan
each lesson accordingly.
Can I make payments?
Payments can be made by check or cash on Sundays at Valley Bible Church at the PAC
registration tables and/or by contacting the camp director. Please note that the entire
registration fee must be collected by the morning of the first day of camp.
My child is too young but is really advanced, can he/she try it out?
So sorry! At this time we are limiting registration to the grades specified for each camp.
How can we get tickets for the performance?
FREE tickets will be available for your student to bring home and pass out as invitations.
If you need additional tickets see the camp director at the end of the day when you pick
up your student.
What if my child only needs to stay for half of the extended care time?
Excellent question! At this time, because we have to have the staff there the entire time
with a minimum of students we do not split extended care sessions. However, if this is a
MAJOR issue to you, please talk to us about other options for the future!
What if I pay for extended care and then find out I don’t need it?
Due to the fact that childcare workers must be scheduled prior to camp
and there are a minimum number of students required to do that, we are NOT able to
offer a refund on childcare. So sorry! Please check your schedules, and make sure you
need it before requesting it.
Do I have to pay for extended care ahead of time?
Yes! For bookkeeping purposes, all fees are due before camp begins. Your child will not
be able to attend unless you are up-to-date. Thanks for understanding!
Can my child be with their friends?
Track classes will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis and not by grade or age. If
your kids and their friends like the same class and as long as there is room in that class,
they can be together.
