| What materials are needed for the class? The main textbook required in the program is the NIV Study Bible (Zondervan). A set of bound notes is provided with each class. What is the cost for each class? The cost for each class is $50, plus a one-time cost for a NIV Study Bible. What happens if I miss a class? Classes will be recorded so that up to 3 classes can be made up by obtaining and listening to the recording. Who will teach these classes? Classes will be taught by the pastors/elders/deacons and others who have been trained to teach. Why don’t you offer this program for mixed classes of men and women? Because we have several qualified women teachers, we wanted to give them an opportunity to teach women. What happens if I want to take some classes but don’t care about earning the certificate? These classes are open to any believer who wants to enroll in that class. However, to graduate, all classes must be taken in the order listed beginning with Bible Study Methods. It is strongly recommended that the 5 classes be taken in order. |
Who can enroll? Any believer over the age of 16 years may enroll in the classes. An application is available through Donna Tanguay, Executive Secretary, in the Church Office. Do I have to be a member of Valley? This program is not limited to the Valley family. Christians from other churches and areas are welcome to attend. The leadership wants to make this program available to any Christian and any church that can benefit from a study of the Bible. In what languages are the classes taught? Provided teachers and materials will be available in English, Spanish, and Tagalog. Please contact Donna Tanguay at (510) 799-3171 ext. 111 for further information. What if I cannot start now, but want to start later? Our goal is to begin the program each year so that we have concurrent classes running. Who is BTCP? BTCP stands for Bible Training Center for Pastors. This organization was started by Dr. Dennis J. Mock. BTCL (Bible Training for Church Leaders) operates under the umbrella of BTCP. BTCP is found in over 60 countries and is taught in over 20 languages world-wide. |
