Just made my first check of the year to MISSION:POSSIBLE from a little side business I have... We commited $4,500 over three years, a stretch for us for sure but we also tied the commitment to 10% of all profit from the side business (after our tithe to the general fund). We are so excited to have written a $1100 check to Mission Possible... If things continue like this we will be able to reach our commitment plus!!!
Make no mistake... HE IS FAITHFUL!!!

Tithing to the church has always been difficult for me. I admit that greed and disobedience has really kept me from giving to my full potential. I always had my own agenda and always felt the need to save money for other reasons. I would always worry about the “what ifs.”
After listening to Pastor Big Dave preach about why “God Bless Some People”, we decided to start giving faithfully. We went from “tipping” $25-$50 to giving our 10%. I was the only person with income at the time so we contributed $90 per week.
Earlier this year my wife had to leave her job. Because of the circumstances at her job, we felt that the stress was not worth dealing with especially when we’re trying to conceive. We had already gone through 2 miscarriages already.
My wife had tried to file for unemployment but was denied at first. She had appealed the decision by EDD and was later given unemployment. She had received a large check of $2300 and she gave 10% of that. Another goes month goes by and she receives a phone call from her ex-coworker who tells her of a job opportunity. She goes on the interview and lands the job, and they matched her wage from her old job. What a blessing!
We had started tithing more when my wife had found a job. We continued to tithe faithfully and saw how God has worked in our lives.
About a month later, my job came to me and offered me the opportunity to take on a different position within the firm, plus a pay increase. How often does a job come to you and offer you a promotion out of the blue? Not very often in my eyes.
God has been so good to us. Giving 10% is not much when God is letting you keep the other 90%. With the raise, I had revise my tithing contribution again. We have gone from "tipping" $100-$200 per month to giving $640 per month.

Tough times when we were first married; financially and otherwise.
I remember selling soft drink bottles to get money to attend a church function that cost $10.00. Our pastor preached on paying tithes and giving to missions. (Praise the Lord for that training.) Our first missions commitment was $1.00 a week.
My husband was out of a job, and one Sunday morning he didn’t even go to church. A special offering was taken that day, and I felt impressed to give the last $10.00 we had. I felt like the widow with her mite, but I was trusting God. In the next week a better job was provided than he had before, we got a very unexpected check for over $300.00. Big money in the '60s!
Forty-seven years later, God continues to provide. This “giving to God journey” has been most rewarding. We haven’t always received monetary rewards, but the spiritual blessing have been pressed down, shaken down, and continue to run over.

I recently felt led by God to give an additional $200 gift. The timing wasn’t great because my family was set to go on a last minute vacation, which required additional funds… not to mention the fact that we were not able to get discounted rates for planning ahead. We decided to give the $200 regardless. Then through a series of circumstances our reservation got switched which provide us with better, nicer, bigger accommodations and in addition to this we were able to get a discounted rate. All and all we saved $900 off the regular price! We believe God got us ahead by $700 for being faithful to his call to give!

I had decided to give. It was not an option to me. That meant for the week that I was not going to have food. I told the Lord, “Ok, but that means that you’re going to have to get me lunch every day.”—as if that was a challenge?! I didn’t tell anyone, because I wanted to see God work. Well, of course, He did. Every day someone different brought me lunch, took me out, or somehow provided food for me. It brought me to tears each time because I knew it had to be a God thing. I ate better that week than I had in a long time.

I had decided to give what I had committed to the Lord even though that month we didn’t have the money to pay the mortgage. I wasn’t sure what to do but fretted over losing the house. Finally as I walked into my office, I told the Lord, “If we lose the house, I trust you. I don’t know if something bad will happen in the house, or what’s best for me, so I trust your plan.” I felt light, like the burden had been lifted. I began to work and saw mail in my bag that hadn’t been opened. Bills, I figured, but I decided to open the mail anyway. In one envelope with no markings that usually I assume is junk and toss, there was a check from the mortgage company for $1800. $1800! They said there was an overage in our escrow account. When does that happen?! God is faithful and already had deliverance right there, but I didn’t see it until I trusted Him.

In April of 2011, when the church was in a financial crisis my wife and considered what we could do... Our discussion went like this, well we had a record year of profits last year as it relates to a little side business we have... It was such an odd year, a perfect storm of sorts, there is no way we could expect that to ever happen again! I suggested to my wife that we could give in faith as if we would get those record profits again and if we didn't we would just chalk it up to loving God... So that is what we did and wouldn't you know it we had another record year, this time a different set of circumstances but regardless God came through and we were even able to give more by the end of the year!
It's true... You give and He blesses, so that you can give more!

My wife and I prayerfully asked the Lord for a number to commit to the MISSION:POSSIBLE campaign... After arriving at a number for the 3-year campaign, we went to the advanced commitment ceremony only to feel like we needed to raise the commitment amount (we hear this has happened to many people!). We were not sure how we would find money for this but thought that somehow it would happen in 3 years. We are amazed to share that an unexpected business transaction came through last month that allowed us to profit $4,000. We believe this is the Lord showing us that He will provide when we prioritize Him!

We committed to give $1800 a year, while we had been living on a budget of $-700 a month. We had already been depending on God to give extra work and provide for the negative amount each month. My husband's work was even in negotiations for a strike. The strike resolved and he got a bonus and raise instead of a strike. And within six months of the commitment, I got offered a job for 8 hours a week that made our budget positive again and made the commitment possible to keep. Praise God!
