Play and Learn Activities:

For Babies

1. SING A SONG - Sing to the tune of "If You're Happy and You Know It":  "Jesus died for you and me, and He's alive! Jesus died for you and me, and He's alive! Jesus is God's Son, and He loves everyone. Jesus died for you and me, and He's alive!"   
   SAY: God sent Jesus to earth because He loves us. Jesus always obeyed God but Jesus died on the cross. God made Jesus alive again. JESUS IS ALIVE today!
2. READ THE BOOK "WHERE IS JESUS" - If you are on our mailing list you should have received a board book titled, "WHERE IS JESUS" in the mail this week. If you did not receive a book and/or are not on our mailing list and would like to be please reach out to us at [email protected]. You and your child can read the story with Miss Laura by clicking on the above video. Enjoy this sweet story of a boy and his new creature friends looking for Jesus!

For Toddlers

BIBLE STORY COLORING PAGE (PRINTABLE)

1. COVER AND UNCOVER A PERSON FIGURE - If you have an infant, lay your baby on his tummy. If you have a toddler sit with her at the table, on the couch or floor, or wherever is comfortable for you. Using a person figure (preferably male since we are talking about Jesus) and a small blanket or hand towel, cover the figure with the blanket and SAY: Jesus died on the cross. Then let your baby/toddler uncover the figure and SAY: But God made Jesus alive again!  JESUS IS ALIVE! Repeat as many times as you and your child want to. After a few times, let your toddler hold and cover the figure and you be the one to uncover him. Share the joy and excitement with your little one that JESUS IS ALIVE!
   
   
2. LOOK IN THE TOMB -Drape a blanket over three sides of your table, leaving one side open. Fold a white sheet, towel, or cloth and place it inside. Invite your toddler to look in and explore the tomb and the empty cloth as you briefly explain how: "Jesus died on the cross, they wrapped His body in cloth and put him in the tomb, and on the third day, 1, 2, 3, God made Jesus alive again! THE TOMB WAS EMPTY BECAUSE, JESUS IS ALIVE!"  Let your child go inside the "tomb" and explore and pick up the empty cloth. No Jesus! Where is He now? He went up to Heaven, but is coming back someday!
   
   
3. EXAMINE THE BIBLE - The Bible, it’s God’s words, and God’s words are true!  You can read this week’s story from Matthew chapters 26-28, or John chapters 18-20. If you do not have a Bible or would like your toddler to have one of his/her own, please contact us at [email protected] and we would be happy to help get one to you. Help your child experience that this isn’t a story just on the video, or told by Miss Laura, this is a true story that is right in their very own Bible! The Entire Bible is about God's plan to send Jesus to rescue us! Jesus always obeyed God, but Jesus died on the cross to rescue us. God made Jesus alive again, and JESUS IS ALIVE today!

Bible Story: Jesus’ Crucifixion and Resurrection (Matthew 26:36 - 28:10; John 18:1--20:18)

Big Idea: Jesus died on the cross and is alive.

Bible Story Video Questions: (Watch the video and ask your kids these questions)

1. The sign above Jesus’ head said He was King of the Jews. Was that true or not true? (true)
2. Who guarded Jesus’ tomb so no one could steal His body? (soldiers)
3. What happened three days after Jesus’ body was put in the tomb? (Jesus rose from the dead)
4. Who discovered the empty tomb? (the two Marys)
5. Whom did the women see after the Angel told them Jesus was alive? (Jesus)
   
   SAY • The most important thing that ever happened is that Jesus died and was raised from the dead. God sent Jesus to earth for this reason. It was very hard, but Jesus wanted to do God’s plan no matter what. Jesus died on the cross and is alive. Because Jesus died and came back to life, we can be rescued from sin.

Family Activities:

1. “Color By Number” activity page (PRINT from website)
   SAY • Look at your beautiful stained glass window! What is the shape in the middle of the window? Yes, a cross. The cross reminds us of the most important thing that ever happened. We will hear more about aht in today’s Bible story.
   
   
2. SORT STONES
   Set out a collection of stornes. Invite your child to put the stones in order by size, smallest to largest. He/she may also sort the stones according to color, shape, or weight. You may also encourage children to make a pattern with the stones.
   SAY • A large stone was rolled in front of Jesus’ tomb, and soldiers guarded the tomb so that no one would steal Jesus’ body. How big would the stone have to be to cover the opening to the tomb? Do you thnk you would be able to move a stone that big? That stone would be way too big for anyone to move. Jesus died on the cross and is alive. The most important thing that ever happened is that Jesus died and was raised from the dead. God raised Jesus from the dead to be King over everything.
   
   
3. EXAMINE ITEMS FROM A GARDEN
   Gather an assortment of flora from your yard, a garden, or a wooden area. Set out the items on a table and provide magnifying glasses for your child to examine the items.
   SAY • In today’s Bible story, Jesus and His friends went to a garden. Jesus was very sad. Jesus went into the garden to pray to God about why He was sad. Listen to our Bible story to learn why Jesus was sad and what He prayed in the garden.
   
   
4. BUILD A BLOCK TOMB 
   Invite your child to build a tomb with blocks. Review the Bible story and invite your child to play out the scene.
   SAY • The two Marys were sad as they went to Jesus’ tomb, but the tomb was empty! The angel told the two women, “Jesus is not here! He has been raided from the dead, just as He said He would." Jesus died on the cross and is alive. God raised Jesus from the dead to be King over everything.
   
5. ROLL THE STONE
   Guide your child to stan in a large circle. Roll an exercise ball to your child and encourage him/her to roll it to another household member in the circle. Sing the following lyrics to the tune of “Mary Had a Little Lamb” as your child rolls the ball. Make sure each household member gets a chance to roll the ball. “Jesus died , but He’s alive, He’s alive, He’s alive! Jesus died, but He’s alive! The stone was rolled away!”
   SAY • A big earthquake came as the two Marys were at Jesus’ tomb. An angel came down from heaven and rolled away the stone that sat in front of Jesus’ tomb. Jesus died on the cross and is alive. Jesus never did anything wrong, but He was punished because we sinned. When we put our trust in Jesus, God forgives our sin because Jesus died for us.

PLAY IT!: IT'S EMPTY!
Turn 3 cups upsidedown on the table. Put a small toy or action figure under one of the cups. (Anything works!) Move the cups around and try to guess which cup it's under!
How did it feel when you were expecting someone, but nothing was there?
You were looking for something under the cup, but like we hear in our Bible story today, people were expecting to find Jesus’ body in His tomb but when they got there, the tomb was empty! Why does this matter? What effect does this have on your life now? What does this have to do with you? (2 Corinthians 5:21; Romans 5:10; 1 Corinthians 15:20-22)
